The winter edition of the Nicholas Meat Quarterly is here! In this issue, we took a step back in time to share a special Christmas Eve story written by Rian B. Anderson. The fictional story takes place in 1881 and focuses on 15-year-old Matt who is longing for a rifle. His family likely can’t afford such an extravagance, but he is still hopeful. To his surprise, however, Matt receives an even better gift after witnessing his Pa’s selflessness.
Rian B. Anderson wrote this story one freezing night in the desert while working as a sheep herder and pondering the true meaning of Christmas. The story circulated anonymously for many years before he was identified and it was formally published in 2001.
