Nicholas Meat: Committed to Quality, Safety & Excellence
Built on family values, Nicholas Meat is deeply committed to our core tenets—Quality, Safety and Excellence—and it shows every day in actions taken with staff and others.
Our goal is to maintain a culture of teamwork where the newest trainee through the most senior employee takes ownership and pride in their assigned task which translates to the best possible product quality outcome in all of our departments. In both personal and food safety, Nicholas Meat staff are extensively trained when they are hired and on an annual basis.
Food Safety is the foundation on which Nicholas Meat was built and it continues to drive our business today.
“We are constantly monitoring and holding ourselves accountable to ensure that our processes are in line with the scientific data and best practices available to our industry,” said Duane Eichenlaub, Nicholas Meat Regulatory and Sustainability Manager. “This dedication, in turn, yields a wholesome, delicious product for our customers.”

Water Quality Management Permit Filed
Although physical work on the Sustainable Resource Facility (SRF) is currently halted, steps toward continued progress have been quietly taking place. Nicholas Meat filed the Water Quality Management (WQM) permit with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) on November 1, 2024.
“We were very happy to submit the WQM after many months of diligent work on the project,” said Duane Eichenlaub, Nicholas Meat Regulatory and Sustainability Manager. “We anticipate hearing from the PADEP in the coming months and hope that, once approved, we can move forward with development of the SRF.”
In June 2024, Nicholas Meat was informed by the Greene Township Board that approval of the WQM was required in order for the township to issue the final land development approve. Since then, the company and its engineering firm have put their full focus on completing the permit.
The WQM deals specifically with sanitary wastewater management or sewage, not to be confused with the beef facility process water, and how it is treated. Currently, sanitary wastewater coming from the Nicholas Meat septic system is pumped and hauled offsite for treatment. The process proposed in the WQM permit application calls for treatment of the sanitary wastewater to Class A standards for discharge into an engineered ground water discharge channel. Obtaining the WQM permit allows the construction process to continue on the first phase of the SRF project.
